How We Work
How we work: Fencers should sign up for a package of four or eight classes. (You can always book a single class at any given level.) Beginning fencers generally sign up for an eight-week beginner program. Missed classes may be made up within four weeks after the end of the period.
Mini-Musketeers introduces children 5 – 8 to basic fencing skills and concepts in an atmosphere of games and play. Children develop focus, balance, coordination, strength and general physical and mental awareness. They learn basic fencing footwork and fence with foam and plastic swords in a safe, carefully supervised environment.
The class lasts an hour and meets once a week on Saturday mornings at 10 a.m.
Beginnere and intermediate classes are for new fencers and teach the basics of the three fencing weapons (foil, sabre, and epee) and also for those more experienced fencers who want to continue in an enjoyable, pressure-free atmosphere that instills correct rudiments of fencing: safety principles, basic footwork, bladework, rules, and tactics. The Adult classes are for high school age and above, though placement in each case will depend on physical, psychological, and emotional readiness.

Private Lessons and Open Fencing
Fencing is an unusual sport in that in most cases, mastery demands repeated one-on-one practice with an instructor in order to ensure technical proficiency, the effective learning of new techniques, and the elimination of potentially serious flaws. Lessons last 20 minutes and are scheduled by contacting the instructor. If you must cancel a lesson, 24-hour notice is required; otherwise the lesson may be charged.
During Open Fencing periods, our floor is open to members and non-members alike. However, even fencer on our floor must be a member of USA Fencing. See page 1 for details. The floor fee is $10. Non-members can buy a discount package of 8 nights for the price of 7 which must be used within 16 weeks of purchase.
Open fencing takes place Tuesday through Friday 8:30 – 10:00 p.m. and Saturday 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
